Dear Clare,
There are different kinds of Epsom salts.
You need to get the ones that say "Oral use".
If you can't find them, I can send you some.

Hello Dr Saul,
I've heard of liver flushs that don't use/don't like the Epsom
salts. What do the salts add to the flush? Is it still effective with
olive oil & grapefruit or lemons?
Thank you.
Jade
Dear Jade,
The Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) are an integral part of the flush.
The liver is a mass of biliary tubes, over 2000 of them.
When the blood passes through the liver for filtering, any
larger pieces are trapped in the tubes. Once held there, the
liver produces cholesterol and encapsulates them again and
again. Over time these waxy stones can grow to great size.
In order for the biliary tubes to release them, magnesium is
necessary to induce relaxation of the tubes. Once the tubes
relax, the olive oil emulsified in grapefruit juice mechanically
flushes the stone out of the tube, into the small intestine.
No Epsom salts, no relaxation, few stones flushed.

Dear Obie,
Any drug store or even grocery chain store carries Epsom salts.
It may not say 'oral' on the outside, so look for 'used for laxative
purposes'
or some such.
Up here, we buy it at Safeway.
