I have prostate problems, and I would like to know if bladder insufflation can be done at home. About a year ago I had a prostatitis episode and had to get a urinary catheter for a few days. I feel that ozone would be a big help and would like to do bladder insufflation if I can.

Also would rectal insufflation work without the enema? It is a lot easier to do the rectal insufflation without the enema, and if it's just a matter of reduced effectiveness, I could go longer to make up for that.

Thanks.

Dear Mark,

Yes, urethral insufflation can be done at home, and this will directly access the prostate.

Rectal insufflation is less effective, in my experience. And without the enema, the effectiveness is zero, regardless of length of application.

Hi there Dr. Saul and All, Someone with chronic prostatitis was asking about the efficacy of using a catheter to insufflate ozone into the bladder compared to funneling, rectal insufflation, or sauna. What is your wise opinion on this matter ?

Thank you,
LC

Dear LC,

Bladder insufflation will be tops.
Next will be ozone sauna, sitting on the end of the tubing.
Next will be funneling over the pubic area.
Next will be rectal insufflation.

However, the ozone sauna will be the easiest and most likely to be repeated, so it wins out.

Saul,

For bladder insufflation, what catheter do you use? The same as for rectal?

Many thanks,
Ken Gullan

Dear Ken,

Yes.
