If bleeding occurs with vaginal insufflation, is that due to the ozone
or physical trauma to the tissue? Is there a reason to be concerned?
Thanks.
Joana
Dear Joana,
Spotting after vaginal insufflation is a fairly common symptom,
affecting probably 1/3 of the women who do it. It is not of
major concern, unless it develops into serious bleeding, whereupon
you should cease insufflation until it stops.
The causes can be many: sometimes physical injury from the catheter
since it has the slots that can catch on the way out, sometimes
there may be a small internal cyst that opens up, there may be
small fissures from intercourse that may bleed a bit, or there may be
discharge from the uterus.
We have seen over the years that ozone will induce a period that is late (assuming it is not late due to pregnancy), and will result in expulsion of dried material that the body was unable to expel
previously. This would be composed of uterine lining that did not
shed cleanly. There can be considerable amounts of material. If not
cleaned out by this simple and effective method, this could potentially result in problems down the road.
Vaginal insufflation is extremely effective with cervical dysplasia,
and routinely converts positive Pap smears into negative.
