Subject: Ozonated Oil - a pts diary
Hi all,
Just thought I'd pass this on
Condition- Below Knee amputation 1984 - cause RTA
Problem - During last year pt had developed rash on stump which
the prosthetic leg fits on. Consultant dermatologist considers as reaction
to chemicals in prosthetic socket. Resulting in eczema or dermatitis.
Limb centre fitted with silicone sheath to prevent contact with skin
-not successful
Dermatologist recommended Dermol 500 wash and Fuciglin H
-hydrocortisone cream - not successful
Result - unable to wear prosthesis ALL day as in previous 20years
- pt
swims daily about one mile for exercise which she was finding hard
with sore stump
Pt calls to see me for 6/12 exam and in general chat tells me of the
problem she's having -I suggest `Ozonated Oil'
Pt keeps diary
Day 1 test patch done
Day 2 no ill effect applies after swimming and before bed
Day 3 Limb tingling slightly when woke up and area looking red
Day 4 Outside area started flaking and looking dry
Day 5 Where dry skin is flaking the underneath seems clear (pt writes
can anything be done about the smell, reminds me of an old `chip
pan' - bet she hasn't tasted it ;) )
Day 6 Whole area dry and flaking
Day 7 Continues to tingle slightly, doesn't itch any more
Day 8 only applied to area after swimming
Day 9 Whole area clear and dry skin gone
Not bad for 8days, since the Dermatologist failed in one year to cure
the problem, also sorted my athletes foot out nicely. shes also been
discharged from her Dermatologist, I haven't talked to her yet but
received the diary today. She's only going to use the 'Oil know if she
gets a flare up.
Hope it helps.
Karl
